My childhood.

I always thought this was 3d for some reason.

We all thought it was 3d because Nintendo literally spent millions of dollars telling us that it was. My house even received a VHS tape in a package that looked disingenuously like gift packaging for the original game.  The ensuing 12 minute video was blindingly 90s (it was shot entirely like a C-rate Beastie Boys video) and due to the magic of the internet, can be viewed in it’s entirety below. We did not even own a Super Nintendo.
